Can I Bring...

This page has our policies about pets, cameras, food and other things you may wish to bring to the Fair with you.

... my pet? No.

The only animals allowed on the grounds are service dogs, animals on exhibit or animal performers.

... knives, scissors, or other sharp implements? No.

We want the Fair to be fun and safe for everyone, so we have metal detectors and bag searches as you enter the Fairgrounds. All sharp metal objects, such as pocket knives, tableware, scissors and the like, are strictly prohibited, as are guns and other weapons. Please leave these items at home, or in your vehicle.

... food and beverages? Yes.

If you have dietary or other reasons for wanting to bring your own food or beverages, please do. Alcohol, glass and metal knives and forks are prohibited. All beverages must be in factory-sealed containers when you go through security. Reusuable containers such as sippy cups can not contain beverages when you go through the security check.

... ice chests, backpacks, diaper bags? Yes.

These items will be searched as you enter the Fair.

... a motorized wheelchair? Yes.

Guests with disabilities are permitted to bring in motorized scooters with three or more wheels to be used as a mobility device.

... a folding chair? Yes, with restrictions.

If a disability requires you to sit frequently, you may bring a folding chair, with the following restrictions: You may not use the chair in the Fun Zone, Grandstand, Coors Light Rock On Stage, or Paddock area during the Paddock Concert Series. You also may not obstruct pedestrian traffic. If a staff member asks you to move your chair, please comply.

... a skateboard or roller skates? No.

Please leave skateboards, scooters, roller skates (including children's wheeled shoes) and other wheeled toys at home or in your vehicle.

... a bicycle? Yes, with restrictions.

You may ride your bike to the Fair, but you may not take it inside the gates. Bike racks are set up at the O'Brien Gate ("main gate") and the West Gate (near the Fun Zone). You may lock your bikes at either location, using your own lock, at no charge.

... a wagon or stroller? Yes.

Small children may be pulled in a wagon at walking speed by adults or responsible older children.

... cigarettes? Yes, with restrictions.

The San Diego County Fair is a NO Smoking venue, with limited designated smoking areas, which are designated on the Fair map.

... a camera or camera tripod? Yes, with restrictions.

Some exhibits and venues permit photography; others do not. Please observe the signs. We do not permit the use of tripods in the Fun Zone and other crowded areas. Tripods may not impede pedestrian traffic. If a staff member asks you to move or compact the leg spread of your tripod, please comply.
